10. Markers

10.1 Using the markers

To each image a set of markers can be added. They are loaded either from the input file (see section 7) or can be generated by Detect stars and Match stars functions. Markers are useful for image annotation. For example, if you have some software which detects moving objects, you can make an input file consisting of FITS image names and coordinates and descriptions of the detected objects. When you read the input file, the detected object will be marked and if you press the right mouse button on the marker, a small window with object image coordinates will appear.

10.2 Marker appearance

Markers can have different sizes, colors and shapes. The available colors are red, blue, green, yellow, magenta and cyan. Shapes are circle, box, diamond, uptriangle and downtriangle.

10.3 Switching markers on and off

You can switch the markers on or off for each individual image by pressing the Mark. button in the blinker window. Note that markers remain in memory even when they are switched off. So, if you press the right mouse button close to a marker position, a window with a magnified part of the image around the marker will appear as if the markers were displayed.
